Portable fire extinguishers are suitable for use if the fire is small, contained to one area and doesn’t involve highly flammable materials. Don’t know how to use a portable fire extinguisher? We can teach you! Call 785-240-2038 to schedule a class.

Yesterday FRFES "pushed in" Truck 31! Pushing in apparatus dates back to the days of horse drawn steam engines and is one of our oldest fire service traditions. We were joined by our Garrison leadership as well as a few of our retirees for this great event.

Turkey Fryer Demo
This short clip demonstrates what NOT to do when deep frying your frozen turkey. FRFD in cooperation with MWR, demonstrated catastrophic possibilities when deep frying a frozen turkey inside a pot of cooking oil.
Fire Station #2 personnel and Battalion Chief Wes Hill (narrator) provided the "what NOT to do" demonstration during the ChrisKendl Market, Saturday Dec 3rd, at Riley's Conference Center. Our message: When deep fat frying your safety is always first, thaw whatever you're cooking, stay at least 20' from all combustibles and always have a Class ABC extinguisher available. Remember; when in doubt, call the Fort Riley Fire Department for assistance.
