The Commissary will be open for those needing to travel for absolute necessities, as well as the BRO and Forsyth Shoppettes. If you choose to travel, we ask that you exercise caution while driving. We strongly encourage everyone to stay off the roads if possible.

The Commissary will open at 1300 and close at 1700 today. BRO & Forsyth Shopettes are open from 1100 to 1700. The Main Exchange is CLOSED. Minimal travel on post is still advised. Road crews are hard at work clearing snow, but roads are icy. Use EXTREME CAUTION if choosing to travel.

On Thursday we had the privilege of presenting four Army Commendation Medals and one Army Achievement Medal to these outstanding Soldiers as they part ways with us, for some that means a permanent change of duty station, and for others, it means the expiration of their time in service. Guardians,

Earlier this year, the Army gave the Military Police Corps notice to rapidly reduce personnel numbers and equipment to fit the developing needs of the force. On 27 September 2024, we bid a bittersweet farewell to the 73d Military Police Detachment, the 116th Military Police Company, the 252nd Military Police Detachment, and the 287th Military Police Company. Simultaneously, the lineage of a new unit began as the Law Enforcement Activity (LEA) activated to provide protection to the Fort Riley community.

These losses are the first of many that the Battalion will undergo but we know that this isn’t the end for these organizations as they case their colors.

We stand prepared for one day when they might once again be called upon to serve and protect this great Nation.

Guardians,

The 97th Military Police Battalion had the honor of awarding Staff Sergeant Joseph Moore with the Order of the Marechaussee in Bronze. This award recognizes a degree of professionalism, high standards of integrity and morality, and esprit de corps consistent with the long-standing history and traditions of the Military Police Corps Regiment.

We also had the pleasure in awarding him the Army Commendation Medal for his contributions throughout his time with the 73d Military Police Detachment and the 97th Military Police Battalion. He will move on to greater opportunities as he becomes a U.S. Army Recruiter, hopefully, to bring in more Military Police Soldiers to Fort Riley.

Please congratulate Staff Sergeant Moore on this momentous achievements and dedication to duty.
