WOW! Several of your state and local I-Smile/I-Smile Silver team just got back from the National Oral Health Conference in St. Louis and we are FULL of ideas to help people living in Iowa! While we were there, we helped fill oral hygiene kits for Gateway180 Homeless Services, learned what other states and organizations are doing to improve oral health, and shared some of what WE are doing here in Iowa. So Much Inspiration!

April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month. Mouth cancer can present in several different ways and can affect the soft tissues of your mouth, lips, teeth, tongue, or tonsils. Oral cancer kills roughly 1 person an hour, but early detection can double chances of survival. If you are experiencing any of these common symptoms, contact your dental provider to get it checked out: lumps, sores in the mouth that do not heal, unexplained numbness in the mouth, difficulty or pain swallowing.
