During the 2024 Vietnam War Annual Government Briefing (AGB) in Washington, D.C., on June 27, 2024, Maggie Ardery and her niece Carolyn Wolf met with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) to discuss Maggie's brother, U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal Howard "Butchie" Ogden, Jr.
Ogden Jr., who hailed from Nebraska, served in Company G, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. On October 18, 1967, he was reported killed by enemy fire while providing cover during the extraction of a reconnaissance unit in South Vietnam. His squad was unable to retrieve his remains due to ongoing enemy engagement, and subsequent recovery efforts were unsuccessful. Ogden is memorialized at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, and his name is inscribed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, DC. DPAA has categorized his case as Active Pursuit based on current analytical assessments.
