On the 25th of September, NIOC Pacific Sailors participated in a career day at Waimalu Elementary School. At this event, Sailors interacted with students - talking about what we do in the military and demonstrating some of our equipment that we use to accomplish our daily tasks. Mahalo to Waimalu Elementary and BZ to our participating Sailors!

Chalk the Walk 🖍️

On September 19th, NIOC Pacific and PACFLT sailors participated in a 5k walk/run around Ford Island, stopping at numerous stations along the way aimed at mapping out the mental health path. As Sailors and their families walked the path, they wrote encouraging messages on the sidewalk to their shipmates walking behind them.

To prepare our teams for combat, we must ensure each member of the team, their minds, bodies, and spirits, are ready for combat, or for supporting those who go forward. For this reason, ensuring the health, especially the mental health of our people, is paramount. We must become comfortable with the idea of preventative maintenance for our people, similar to the concept we have already adopted for our equipment and machines.

Never Forget 🇺🇸

On September 11th, NIOC Pacific sailors paid tribute to the nearly three thousand lives that were lost 23 years ago. In addition to a memorial ceremony, on Ford Island, thousands of combat boots were placed, adorned with an American Flag and a photo/name of a military member who has been killed in action in the post - 9/11 Global War on Terror.

We honor the lives lost and the courage of all first responders who risked everything to save others. Together we will never forget.
