Senator Jon Tester

Senator Jon Tester U.S. Senator for Montana I want this page to be a conversation, where I can update you on issues affecting Montana and you can make your voice heard.

But like in any polite, productive conversation, we need to maintain a civility and respect. So think of my page as the aisle of a hardware store. Things you would do: say hello, update me on your family, friends and neighbors, thoughtfully discuss important issues of the day, etc. Things you wouldn't do: use profanity, personally attack or threaten folks strolling by, shout random things

out of context, etc. I also can’t respond directly or immediately to everyone in the hardware store, so if you have an ongoing issue and need to contact me personally, please call my office at 202-224-2644 or submit your comment at tester.senate.gov/contact. It's really that simple.

To ensure our vets receive the quality mental health care they earned, VA has got to tailor that care to each population of vet it serves. I've introduced the BRAVE Act to move the needle forward on strengthening VA mental health care for women vets and spinal cord-injured vets.

More and more folks flying through Missoula means higher demand for flights out of the airport—so I secured resources to add year-round service between Missoula and Chicago. The route will make travel through the Missoula area quicker, easier, and more accessible for MT families.

Montana's home to one of the largest veteran populations in the nation, and we're proud of that tradition. As we begin Veterans & Military Families Month, know that I'll always have the backs of servicemembers, vets, and their families as we fight to do right by their sacrifice.

We may be closing out Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but any time is worthwhile to schedule a routine breast cancer screening. These screenings save lives, plain and simple, so take a moment book this precautionary step today.

Glad to hear that VA is answering my call to add new presumptive benefits under the PACT Act for K-2 veterans exposed to toxic substances. This news is one more way this law is delivering long-overdue benefits to generations of toxic-exposed vets.

Toxic-exposed veterans have been waiting decades to receive the benefits they earned, including those exposed to radiation at the K-2 Base in Uzbekistan.

Chairman Jon Tester, Ranking Member Mark Takano, and Senator Richard Blumenthal recently called on VA to ensure these veterans receive their earned benefits using authorities from the PACT Act.

It's an honor to be recognized by the American Ambulance Association for our work defending Montana vets' access to emergency air and ground transportation. Particularly in rural areas, these services can be the difference between life and death, which is why it's so critical we protect them in our state.

Senator Jon Tester of Montana has been awarded a 2024 Legislative Recognition Award by the American Ambulance Association (AAA) for his leadership in ensuring veterans continue to have access to vital emergency medical services. On behalf of our members we want to thank Senator Tester for his introduction of the bipartisan VA Emergency Transportation Access Act and his continued support of our nation's EMS providers and veterans. https://ambulance.org/2024/10/07/testeraward/

Montana has a long, proud history of military service—including at our nation's service academies—and for young Montanans interested in pursuing an academy nomination, the November 1 application deadline is almost here. Visit my website to learn more:

Thank you for your interest in serving the United States by attending a service academy. Keep in mind that each academy has its own application process. You must meet these requirements and be accepted for admission to attend an academy. Nomination alone is not sufficient, as each academy reviews no...

Montana's first responders risk their lives answering the call to keep our communities safe, and for that, we owe them our deepest appreciation. Join me this National First Responders Day to thank these brave Montanans for their service and selflessness each and every day.

There's no question the Bozeman Airport is seeing more and more folks travel through it each day, but thanks to resources from my bipartisan infrastructure law, we're investing in its expansion to keep up with that demand and keep local families and businesses connected:

I worked with folks at NAMI MT to pass the John Scott Hannon Veterans Mental Health Care Improvement Act and expand rural vets' access to mental health care, including alternative treatment options. By getting vets more options closer to home, this law is working to save lives.

Glacier International's expansion project will help the airport keep up with growing demand while ensuring families and businesses in the Flathead have what they need to stay connected. Proud to be delivering $2.5M from my bipartisan infrastructure law to help make it possible.

I went to bat for this major investment in Calumet Refinery because it'll strengthen the Great Falls economy, create good-paying jobs, and continue Montana's tradition of energy leadership—one that the hardworking folks in Cascade County are helping to grow and thrive.

Through my bipartisan infrastructure law, we're investing serious resources in the roads, bridges, broadband, energy grids, and more that make Montana communities run. Projects like these are just some of the major upgrades this law is bringing to our state:

With support from Democrats and Republicans, President Joe Biden’s administration in 2021 secured the passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), a historic $1.2 trillion dollar spending package that promised to rebuild America’s crumbling infrastructure. Thus far, the White Ho...

I've pushed to support mining critical minerals here in America and today's announcement is a big step forward. Bolstering this industry will boost domestic supply chains, strengthen national security, and support hardworking Montanans at the Stillwater mine.

These IRA subsidies are among the biggest White House attempts to marry climate and industrial policy.

Bozeman's airport is the fastest-growing airport in Montana, and as more and more folks travel through it, I'm proud to deliver $10M from my bipartisan infrastructure law for its expansion. These upgrades will help meet growing demand and keep the Gallatin Valley connected.

Montana women's legal right to emergency health care should be protected and respected by the courts. That's why I'm signing onto a legal brief to affirm that right, defend access to lifesaving care, and protect women's freedom to make their own health care decisions.

A pleasure to join friends and fellow members of the Montana Farmers Union in Whitefish this weekend for their annual convention. These folks are the backbone of our state’s ag economy, and it’s an honor to fight alongside them as we defend family farm agriculture across the Treasure State.

From bots and scams to hidden fees and price gouging, predatory practices in the ticketing system are hurting too many Montanans and our mom-and-pop venues.

I'm backing the Fans First Act to protect consumers, crack down on bad actors, and increase ticket transparency.
