Three years ago, DHS took on the responsibility of leading Operation Allies Welcome, ensuring that vulnerable Afghans who supported U.S. forces found safety and a new start in America. With Congressional support, we’ve remained dedicated to their successful resettlement.
Our dedicated U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services workforce has been pivotal in these efforts. They continued the mission by hosting 18 Afghan Support Centers across the U.S., providing critical assistance to over 22,000 individuals, helping them access essential resources and opportunities.
DHS has also extended fee exemptions and expedited application processing for eligible Afghan nationals and introduced a streamlined re-parole process for those who entered between July 2021 and September 2023. President Joe Biden entrusted us with this mission, and we continue to deliver.
Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency kicked off Tabletop the Vote, a yearly national election security exercise bringing together federal, state, and local partners to ensure the resilience and security of the bedrock of our democratic processes.
