Lilian is a speech-language pathologist with a Ph.D. in pedagogy and was certified in AVT in 2003. Her work in auditory rehabilitation, app development, and authoring key books has changed how professionals and families approach hearing loss intervention.

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, AG Bell is excited to highlight Hilda Furmanski, Fga., LSLS Cert. AVT—a pioneer in auditory-verbal therapy and leader in Spanish-speaking audiology.

Hilda has dedicated more than 35 years to working with families of children with hearing loss. She is president of ASARA, teaches at the University of Buenos Aires, and has trained professionals across Latin America in AVT. Her work continues to shape how AVT is practiced and understood worldwide.

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, AG Bell is honored to spotlight Arlene Stredler-Brown, Ph.D., CCC-SLP —respected researcher, educator, and advocate for early intervention and telepractice.

With advanced degrees in speech-language pathology, deaf education, and special education, Arlene supports children and families across the globe. Her research focuses on telepractice, DHH children with additional disabilities, and early intervention, and she continues to advocate for DHH children as the Colorado EHDI Coordinator.

Alliete is an assistant professor in the CSD Department at Florida International University and the founder of The Alfano Center in Miami. As we celebrate Women’s History Month, AG Bell is honored to spotlight Dr. Jane Madell — a powerhouse in the field of pediatric audiology and one of our incredible 2025 Symposium Co-Chairs.

Dr. Madell, Ph.D., CCC-A/SLP, LSLS Cert. AVT, is an audiologist, speech-language pathologist, and auditory-verbal therapist whose work has shaped the way we understand and support children with hearing loss. From publishing seven books to co-producing The Listening Project film, her contributions span clinical care, research, advocacy, and education. She is also the recipient of the Marion Downs Award for Excellence in Pediatric Audiology.

We’re thrilled to have her leadership at this year’s Global Listening and Spoken Language Symposium.

As we close out Women’s History Month, AG Bell is proud to spotlight a few of the incredible women who have helped shape our global community as chairs of our LSL Virtual Symposium—starting with Elizabeth Tyszkiewicz, LSLS Cert. AVT.

Elizabeth is an independent trainer and mentor in auditory-verbal therapy in the UK and across the globe. With over 25 years of experience in cochlear implant programs, education, and the voluntary sector, she brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep passion for supporting families and future professionals. Her love for coaching caregivers, mentoring aspiring LSLS professionals, and learning from children’s communication and play has made a lasting impact worldwide.
