Construction on Westpark Skatepark is moving right along—more than half of the concrete has been poured, and the project remains on track for completion this spring! 🛹✨

We also want to share a quick update: during excavation, crews uncovered an unexpected oil pipeline beneath the planned flow bowl. Grindline Skateparks staying true to the community's vision, made a slight design adjustment using input from previous outreach—preserving the skatepark experience without affecting the budget or timeline. Ventura Water Crew Honorary Firefighters! 🚒💧

Recently, our Ventura Water Team was recognized for their fast action in responding to a trash truck fire at the Ventura Water Reclamation Facility off Spinnaker Drive. The fire sent thick black smoke into the air, prompting an urgent response.

As fire crews rushed to the scene, Robert Barretto, Victor Becerra, Vicente Ramirez, Eric Nava, Tanner Snyder, Brady Glad, and Steven Torres,—who had access to their own water trucks—jumped into action. Without hesitation, they positioned their trucks, extended hose lines, and began dousing the flames before firefighters arrived.

Ventura Fire Department Battalion Chief Shawn Hughes praised their quick response and teamwork, noting their fearless effort and impressive positioning. Their swift actions helped contain the fire before it could spread further. 👏👏
