"Tonight at the King County Young Democrats April monthly meeting I announced my bid for #ShorelineCityCouncil -- and also the fact that I am an addict in recovery.
This was a tough decision whether or not to reveal this about myself but the fact of the matter is - that this conversation needs to be started NOW.
I am sick and tired of the issues that plague our cities such as homelessness, lack of education, and crime almost always having a direct correlation with addiction.
I'm tired of seeing lawmakers in Olympia describe us like subhuman beings.
Why don't we have a conversation about how to help the homeless in Shoreline by someone who's been one?
Why don't we talk about how the best solution for preventing the number of DUIs on Aurora from rising and lowering traffic congestion for ALL of the greater Seattle area -- may just be as simple as treating the alcoholics who commit them?
