Today is , our annual day of giving!

Prof. Rashmi Chordiya is a tireless advocate for improving justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in public agencies and nonprofit organizations. Over the several years, Dr. Chordiya has spearheaded the Seattle University Public Administration & Public Affairs' “Theory to Practice Conversations” as an offering that seeks to bring together faculty members, students, alumni, and practitioners around the world to explore nuances of operationalizing theoretical ideas into practice.

Prof. Chordiya says “ funds help us explore, co-create and sustain spaces and opportunities for community building and continued learning and development opportunities for our current students and alumni.” Thanks for all you do for our students, Seattle University, Seattle University College of Arts and Sciences, and our community, Rashmi!

Today is , our annual day of giving!

Last summer, Trevor Buchan (Senior, B.A. in Public Affairs program) traveled to Washington, D.C. to present his research at the annual meeting for the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). Under the mentorship of Prof. Caitlin Ring Carlson, Chair of the Seattle University Communication Department, Trevor shared the results of his upcoming publication with Dr. Carlson, “revealing the gender-based discrimination inherent in Fighting Words, a freedom of speech doctrine.”

We were able to fund this trip with dollars raised from our 2023 campaign, along with additional generous support from the Dean's office in the Seattle University College of Arts and Sciences and the Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons.

Would you like to support our student’s professional development? I just made a gift to support students like Trevor. Please join me TODAY! https://lnkd.in/dzKRVCiA

Esteban is committed to creating more equitable workplaces, particularly for people of color, as well as fostering inclusive participation. Esteban notes that this internship is “a good opportunity to live centering the humanity of those around me.”

Working with students like Esteban, who intend to make a dent in the world, is why the faculty in Seattle University College of Arts and Sciences love teaching.

Check out this recent NPR article on "social housing" - Seattle Initiative 135 - which is on the ballot in the upcoming 2/14 special election. Prof. Zachary D. Wood, PhD was interviewed.

A measure up for a Feb. 14 special election in Seattle would create 'social housing,' something that's like public housing — but with a big difference.

Our Story

The Seattle University Graduate Programs in Public Administration educate public service professionals seeking to advance their careers in local, state, or federal government or the nonprofit sector. The departments offers a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree to prepare students with knowledge and skills in critical thinking, analysis, administration, management, policy, and research. The department also offers a Graduate Certificate in Public Administration. The 12-credit, four-course certificate is designed to provide individuals with practical “hands-on” experience and best practices in policy analysis, human resources, finance, and management skills.
