Congrats, Cap! What an inspiration.

Congratulations to Captain James Hilliard (Engine 27) for becoming a member of the Firefighter Challenge Championship Series "Lion's Den" with a time of 3:35.59. This prestigious honor recognizes athletes in the SERVPRO FCL who have distinguished themselves on the course by completing their full course run time in under 4:00.00 as a male over 60 years of age. Impressive job!

Our condolences to Adam’s loved ones.

The Seattle Fire Department is heartbroken to announce that one of our firefighters passed away on June 16 following a medical emergency experienced while off-duty. Firefighter Adam Clements was 34 years old and began employment with the Seattle Fire Department in 2015 as a member of Recruit Class 103. He dedicated nine years of his life serving the Seattle community, spending time working on Engines 8, 35 and at the Fire Prevention Division as a fire inspector. We are holding Adam’s family, friends and fellow colleagues close in our hearts as we grieve his loss. Gone but not forgotten – may he rest in peace.

Deep gratitude for the Seattle Fire Foundation for their generous donations of Seek Thermal TICs (thermal imagery cameras) for our firefighters helping us be safer and faster on the fire ground. Engine 21 is the first company in the Seattle Fire Department to field these light weight tools of the trade.

The Seattle Fire Department trains all our firefighters and officers on fireground survival skills like navigating entanglement while in low visibility conditions. This highly valuable training is a great example of the high level of training and proficiency required to excel on the fireground

Congratulations to FF Tracy on D-shift and FF Stober on C-shift for passing their certifications to be a relief driver. Driving to responses and pumping at fires are some of the more risky and difficult tasks we face. SFD has a phenomenal training and certification program. Congrats, Riley and Nick!

D shift recently had a late night rig swap back into our frontline rig complete with 2700’ of hose to load. Kudos to the hard work of the men and women at the fire garage and services for the hard work to get us back on the road.

Seattle Fire is sending 10 additional personnel to Maui as part of Washington Task Force-1, bringing our total of deployed members to 21. We continue to keep the Maui community close in our hearts during the widespread devastation caused by wildfires.

Information released from FEMA’s Washington Task Force-1 today: In a continued effort to provide vital assistance, the Washington State Task Force-1 FEMA Urban Search and Rescue (WA-TF1) has augmented its support to Hawaii's search and rescue operations by sending an additional 30 members of the task force.

The additional members will be joining the members who have been on the ground actively supporting Hawaii's search and rescue missions since their deployment on August 10 to form an 80-person Type 1 team.
