Congress holds a unique duty to uphold democracy. Is it doing so?
Democracy is based on a handful of ideas that define what self-government is: we are all equal; we respect each other as fellow humans sharing the same unalienable rights; we reject the idea of a sovereign and commit to governing ourselves using written law; we make the law together by seeking the truth; and we agree to be bound by the laws we create.

Commitment to democracy under the structure of a republic creates rights and duties for elected representatives. Some are not meeting their responsibilities.

15 Years After Citizens United, Seattle Can Show the Way Forward - While the rest of the country struggles to rein in the influence of big money, Seattle has charted a different course. In response to Citizens United, we introduced the Democracy Voucher Program (DVP) in 2017—an innovative effort to empower everyday voters and reduce the dominance of big-money donors. https://thefulcrum.us/money-politics/influence-of-money-in-elections
