As Chair of the Council’s Transportation Committee, today was a momentous day as we kicked off review of the transportation renewal levy!☑️🚴♂️🚗🚌♿️🚶🏾♂️🌉
Below is my statement; the levy will go to the ballot 🗳️ so YOU are an important part of this process! 👇🏾

This levy will touch every single resident of seattle and this region.🌄
Bridges, new sidewalks, more bike lanes, safe streets! And More!
Between now and July 2, we will have five public committee meetings, two public hearings, and hundreds of individual discussions, all to help us shape the future of Seattle’s transportation infrastructure. There are no smokey back rooms, just these conversations, happening right.
I look forward to your continued engagement in this important process! Seattle City Council

A sprawling encampment at a very busy street at 1st and So Cloverdale in South Park where there was a recent shooting has been resolved this week.
I have learned via West Seattle Blog that at least ten households were offered alternate housing and they accepted it. A win for all!
Thank you to Seattle Department of Transportation & WSDOT and the amazing dedicated City of Seattle United Care Team. This is not easy work!
And there are not enough shelters and permanent supportive housing and services so we know that we can and must do better and I am committed to an all-hands-on-deck effort as this is what it will take.
Thank you for coming out to join the Seattle Department of Transportation Pothole Rangers and for your interview to publicize the important work of these dedicated crews KOMO News!
Today was a proud moment as we raised the African American flag in honor of Black History Month at Seattle City Hall. It was personally impactful for me as the son of a Nigerian immigrant and who raised me as a single dad.
The American flag is also meaningful to me as a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
These flags represent the promise that equal opportunity is attainable for all and especially our young people must never be deterred to overcome all obstacles to achieve their goals.
When I presented the @theseattlecouncil Proclamation signed by @mayorofseattle, I said from the dais, “Black history is American history.”
Thank you to Mayor Bruce Harrell, NAACP and all the community who came out! #BlackHistoryMonth #OneSeattle
