📣 Families, Staff, and Community Members at Viewlands Elementary!
It’s rally time! On Wednesday (3/19) morning before school starts, schools across the country are hosting walk-ins (https://www.nea.org/march19) to support students and stand up for public education. At Viewlands, we’ll rally outside the school from 7:10-7:40AM. Join us in celebrating what we love about Viewlands and public education. Let’s stand with students, families, and educators around the country and tell our elected leaders to fight for public ed!
There will be coffee, oranges, chalk, markers, and paper. Get up early, bring yourself, and wear a red shirt in solidarity. School-appropriate signs and enthusiasm are welcome. See you at 7:10AM on Wednesday!
📍What Are Walk-Ins?
Walk-ins are a type of collective action that can be used to show the power of the people who make our public schools and communities possible. During school walk-ins, parents, educators, and students, along with neighbors and community leaders, gather in front of their school 30-45 minutes before the school day begins. We rally and then we all walk into the school together. On March 19th, the National School Walk-in will show lawmakers that we are united in our demand to protect our schools and our communities.
📍Why March 19th?
Our elected leaders will be returning to their districts as Congress goes on recess to hear from constituents like you on issues. Some legislators even host town halls during recess periods. There will be walk-ins around the country this mor
ning to make our voices heard.
