Fridays are for GOOD news - and boy oh boy - do we have good news to share!

Join us in CONGRATULATING Donte Wilson! 🎉

Desiring a better future for himself and the ability to provide for and be a good role model for his son, Donte knew it was time for a change. He enrolled in our Life Path Foundations: Stable and Sober program in September 2024.

Not only did he successfully complete the program—where he was assigned a staff mentor, Geurin Walton, our Education Coordinator, affectionately called "G"—but he also took a major step toward a new career.

While working with G, Donte enrolled in ANEW, the oldest continuously running pre-apprenticeship program in the nation, renowned for training individuals to enter the construction industry.

Yesterday, Donte not only graduated from ANEW, but he also served as the graduation speaker and earned certifications as a forklift operator and flagger from the American Traffic Safety Services Association. Additionally, he was awarded several certificates for his work ethic, attendance, and completion of ANEW’s RISE Up Academy—just to name a few.

"Before ANEW, I was a lost cause with no direction, my life in shambles, staying in a homeless shelter, just trying to figure out this thing we call life," Donte shared with the graduates and attendees.

He continued, "I decided to enroll in the program because it helped me form a decision and gave me options for a vision that was once blurry. Through my experience, I learned the true definition of dedication and commitment and how to finish whatever I start for myself. I have applied for the Laborers Union with hopes of excelling within that trade."

He ended his speech with this powerful quote:

"Gratitude, like faith, is a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it grows… To be grateful is to find blessings in everything. This is the most powerful attitude to adopt, for there are blessings in everything."

As we approach the Easter season, like Donte, we do so with an attitude of gratitude.

We are grateful for Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, which gives us all second chances and makes success stories like Donte's possible. We are also deeply thankful for community partners like ANEW and others who work with us to bring hope to seemingly hopeless situations.

We are so thankful to TAB Take a Break for donating 5 gallons of boba tea, coffee, and sandwiches to the mission yesterday! The guys really enjoyed it during dinner.
And a big thank you to our CEO Kim, who helped fix dinner yesterday.

Dear friends,

We have an important update from Bread of Life Mission—our kitchen is currently without a cook, and we need your help to continue serving meals to our community.

We’re looking for volunteers to assist with meal preparation or donate ready-made items. Simple, bulk-friendly options like Costco pizza, lasagna, or macaroni & cheese can help us continue feeding those in need.

Every meal you prepare or contribute makes a HUGE difference in the lives of our neighbors experiencing hunger. If you can lend a hand, whether by cooking, prepping, or donating food, we’d love to hear from you!

📞 Call Grace at (206) 682-3579 ext. 101 to volunteer or 📧 email, [email protected] for more details.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity! 💙 Together, we can ensure no one goes hungry.

We hope this message finds you well. We have an important update to share regarding our operations at the Bread of Life Mission. Unfortunately, we no longer have a cook available to prepare meals for our community. As a result, we are reaching out to you, our dedicated volunteers, for assistance.
We are looking for volunteers to make meals and prepare meal components. Additionally, we are considering Costco pizza, lasagna, or macaroni and cheese for larger meals. These options are easier to prepare in bulk.
We appreciate your support during this transition. Whether you can help with meal prep, cooking, or contributing ready-to-eat items, your efforts will make a HUGE difference.
Thank you for your continued dedication and support. Together, we can ensure that our community continues to receive the nourishment they need.
To volunteer or bring food, please call Grace at 206 682 3579 x 101 or email [email protected]

The Cold Temperatures' Impact on the Homeless: The dangers of cold weather are real: frostbite, extremely chapped skin, hypothermia, and even death. Prolonged exposure to the harsh winter elements can quickly become a life-or-death situation.
The Mission's Response: The Mission aims to bring as many hurting individuals as possible out of the dangerously low temperatures and into safe, dry living
conditions.
In addition, the Mission seeks to provide those in need with warm, nutritious meals and winter clothing necessities. Here are extra measures the Mission will take during cold weather events to care for the homeless.
🛌🏾Provide safe shelter and warm beds
🍽Feed more people
🧥Offer winter clothing essentials
Thank you to all who have given a severe weather gift to enable us to help as many as possible. https://bit.ly/3tZjjlg

Our Story

Bread of Life Mission - November 24, 2019

Since 1939, the Bread of Life Mission has been reaching out to the poor and needy in Seattle. The Bread of Life Mission assists individuals to overcome homelessness, addiction and poverty through a life centered on Christ.

Our Program

The Bread of Life ministers to the needy people in our community. We meet their physical needs with food, shelter, clothing, and other necessities, and their emotional and spiritual needs with guidance and life change programs.
