Washington has 3rd highest homeless population in US, federal report shows

According to a HUD report, Washington state had the third largest homeless population in the country in 2024, with 31,554 people experiencing homelessness.

Last weekend, donors, community leaders, speakers, and attendees gathered to mark a meaningful evening at the MHS Annual Fundraising Dinner 2024. A heartfelt thank you ❤️ to everyone who contributed and supported our mission!

We were honored to have Mrs. Melissa Chaudhry, State of WA Congressional Candidate (CD-9), as a guest speaker, who shared her inspiring journey of helping others and shedding light on the struggles many face, and Sheikh Fazal Hassan, Imam at the Islamic Centre of Eastside (ICOE), who graciously led the fundraising efforts and inspired us all to give generously.

A special thanks to the community leaders from SPD and King County for their presence and support, which highlighted the power of collaboration in addressing homelessness and poverty.

The evening wasn’t just for the adults, our younger guests enjoyed face painting, balloon twisting, Henna art, and delicious kids’ meals that brought smiles all around!

We are humbled by the generosity of our donors, who donated wholeheartedly to support our mission. Your kindness and compassion strengthen our efforts to uplift homeless populations and underserved low-income families across the Greater Seattle area.

We warmly invite you to an evening of unity, compassion, and giving back. Let’s come together to uplift the lives of families in need within our community.

Alhamdulillah, for over 25 years, Muslim Housing Services (MHS) has been a beacon of hope and support for homeless families, low-income households, and refugee communities across Greater Seattle. Every year, countless families turn to us, with some traveling to Seattle from across the country in search of safety and assistance. As cases of domestic violence and urgent housing needs continue to rise, your support has never been more crucial.

Each year, MHS provides essential housing assistance to over 1,100 individuals, allocating more than $3 million to address critical needs. This includes housing, food distribution, basic supplies, and comprehensive support for our community’s most vulnerable members. Yet, despite these efforts, the demand for safe housing and specialized care continues to grow, leaving many families in urgent need.

Join us for the MHS Annual Fundraising Dinner 2024 as we come together to strengthen our efforts and make a lasting impact.

We are honored to welcome Shaikh Fazal Hassan, Imam of Islamic Center Eastside (ICOE) as our special guest speaker for the evening. His words will inspire us to harness the strength of community compassion to support those in need.

Date: Saturday, December 14th, 2024
Timing: 6.00 to 10:00 pm
Dinner: 8:00 pm
Venue: The Muslim Association of Puget Sound (MAPS),17550 NE 67TH CT, Redmond, WA 98052.

This meaningful evening is an opportunity to learn more about MHS’s transformative work and raise essential funds to uplift those who rely on our services. Every donation and prayer helps us bring hope to those who need it most. All proceeds will directly benefit homeless, low-income, and refugee families.

A dedicated children’s area will be available, featuring fun activities such as face painting, balloon twisting, and henna art, overseen by our responsible volunteers.

🌟 Muslim Housing Services (MHS) hosts its annual Day of Hope 2024 🌟

Muslim Housing Services (MHS) proudly hosted its annual Day of Hope event at the New Holly Gathering Hall, generously supported by Seattle Housing Authority (SHA). This event provided essential services to homeless populations and underserved low-income families, highlighting MHS's crucial role in connecting those in need with vital resources.

MHS provided hot meals and essential food items like rice, flour, sugar, oil, and diapers for families. Volunteers from all walks of life, including Judge Andrea Jarmon and doctors from the Washington Association of Pakistani Physicians (WAPP), came together to make a difference.

The King County Department of Health’s Mobile Health Clinic offered critical health screenings and vaccinations, while King County Public Health provided enrollment assistance for health insurance and other vital programs.

All services at the event were offered for free, including legal consultations from a dedicated attorney and hairdressing services from a talented hairdresser, helping attendees feel uplifted. A special moment was the participation of a former MHS client, a talented henna artist, who gave back to the community that once supported her.

A special thanks to our MHS team for their hard work and dedication! The Day of Hope was a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together.

🚴‍♂️ MHS Cycle Team Rides for a Cause in Skagit and Island Counties! 🚴‍♀️

Alhumdulillah, for the 4th year, the Muslim Housing Services Cycle Team proudly took part in the annual Bike MS event, riding through the scenic Skagit and Island Counties at Mount Vernon, WA, in support of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s mission. 💙

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disease that affects the central nervous system, impacting nearly 3 million people worldwide. The funds raised through Bike MS support vital research and provide resources that empower people affected by MS to live better, more fulfilling lives.

Among our dedicated riders, some completed 23 miles while others rode 59 miles with the encouragement of cheering volunteers and refueling at rest stops along the way. Our dedicated riders gave their all, crossing the finish line and achieving personal milestones as they rode with determination and heart! 🌟

A big thank you to our dedicated team and the wonderful supporters who rallied behind us. With your help, we’re advancing in the fight against MS and improving the lives of those affected! 🚴‍♀️💙
