Have you noticed? The Delridge Pedestrian Bridge is stronger than ever before! 💪

That’s because seismic retrofits to help this bridge better withstand earthquakes are officially complete, and it’s all thanks to the .

Here’s what’s new:

✅ Wrapped parts of the bridge with protective material to make it stronger.

✅ Sealed the surface to increase safety and cut down on future repairs.

✅ Added supports to the ramps to help them last longer and stay safer during an earthquake.

✅ Replaced concrete and reinforcing in the bridge structure to provide better support.

✅ Upgraded the handrails for better stability and safety.

🚧 Upcoming Ballard Bridge Closures 🚧

The Ballard Bridge will be closed to cars and trucks a few weekends this spring, the first being April 25 through 28.

Crews will resume important work to maintain and enhance the bridge that was delayed because of rain last fall. We understand closures are inconvenient, and we really appreciate your patience and understanding.

Here’s what you need to know to plan ahead.

We’re closing the Ballard Bridge on select weekends this spring to complete important bridge maintenance and preservation work.

🚧 Attention Drivers 🚧

Starting today, Queen Anne Ave N, between Roy St and Mercer St, will be southbound only for all vehicles.

This permanent change will make it safer and easier to get to and around the Uptown neighborhood!

🚴 Soon you’ll see a protected bike lane on the block – connecting to the two other bike lanes nearby.

🚘🚚 For drivers, clearer parking and loading areas.

We’re thinking about changing some Seattle Streetcar fares in September 2025. By making these changes, you won’t have to worry about paying different fares when transferring between the Seattle Streetcar, Metro buses, or Link Light Rail. Instead, you would have a simpler, more consistent way to get around Seattle. If you qualify for any free or reduced fares, it will stay the same.

With these potential changes, adult fares on the Seattle Streetcar would increase from $2.25 per trip to $3, which is the same as a ride on Metro buses and Link light rail. Reduced ORCA LIFT fares would remain at $1 moving forward.

Project Update: Work on the Queen Anne Ave N Protected Bike Lane Extension Project has started! 🚧 🚨

We're building a new two-way protected bike lane on Queen Anne Ave N, between W Mercer St and Roy St.

Queen Anne Ave N, between W Mercer St and Roy St, will change from a two-way street to a one-way street going southbound only. If you’re heading north on Queen Anne Ave N from Mercer St, you’ll need to use 1st Ave and then Roy St instead.

Crews have already begun updating signals, signs, and some pavement markings.

Wow, what a turnout! 🙌

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the Willow Creek Fish Passage ribbon cutting – especially from our friend Sal the Salmon, who’s extra grateful for the improved habitat. 🐟

This project makes it easier to get around – for both fish and people walking, rolling and biking.

We couldn’t have done it without our partners at Seattle Parks and Recreation, and you, Seattle voters! Thank you for approving the to fund this project and others like it.

You may have noticed the pedestrian bridge on N 102nd St and Aurora Ave N is back open! 🚶‍♀️🧑‍🦽

💡But did you know it’s stronger and better than it was before?

That’s because retrofits to help it better withstand earthquakes are almost done! All thanks to the .

Here’s what our crews have been working on:

✅ We strengthened the bridge’s structure by adding a durable carbon fiber wrap and adjusting the joints and end block.

✅ We added flexible components to help the bridge better withstand movement during an earthquake.

✅ We built support elements including walls and foundations for the bridge’s ramp and staircases to improve stability.

There’s still some more work to do, so you can expect short-term lane and bridge closures from time to time.

Seattle’s oldest steel bridge, the Dr. Jose Rizal Bridge, is getting a new paint job!

🚧 Construction starts next month, and you’ll notice crews have already started prepping the work site near S Dearborn St.🚧

We’re repainting the historic bridge, which connects the International District and Beacon Hill, to ensure it remains functional and safe for years to come.

It’s also better for the environment. When it was built in 1911, lead was often used in paint. So, crews will safely remove the old paint and replace it with eco-friendly paint.
