Uplift Northwest (formerly Millionair Club Charitiy) is a Seattle nonprofit providing jobs and job-readiness services to men and women experiencing poverty and homelessness. For nearly 100 years, Uplift Northwest has operated as a nonprofit temporary staffing organization with services geared to the needs of a person who is in poverty, or is homeless, and likely with little to no resources to beco

me job-ready. We believe a job is empowering and provides hope, strength, courage, confidence, purpose and an opportunity to stabilize one’s life. Income earned through these temporary jobs is the difference between starvation, eviction, and getting a person’s family off the streets. By removing barriers, we provide dignified work opportunities and support services to nearly 1,000 men and women annually experiencing poverty and homelessness – offering a job, a hot meal, a shower, laundry services, vision care, transportation passes, career coaching, medical, dental, cell phone, computer training and work certification, all in one location. In the past few years, hundreds of Uplift Northwest clients earned permanent job placements and housing referrals, and this translates to significant taxpayer dollars saved in public service expenses. Seattle Public Utilities, along with nonprofit partner Uplift Northwest, is providing hygiene resources to unsheltered individuals throughout the community. These resources include our hygiene (shower) trailer program. 🧼

Each shower trailer contains three standard shower stalls (each with a toilet and sink) and one ADA shower (with toilet and sink). Towels, soap, and shampoo are provided. 🚿

Widen the Circle is an original piece written and performed by Tia Nache for Uplift Northwest. The goal of this project was to break down some of the misconceptions around what people “look like” who need assistance. You never know what someone is going through… “The truth is that most of America is bare feet and concrete.
