The Minot Public School Foundation is pleased to partner with the Minot Area Community Foundation in a grant match for The Minot North High School (MNHS) Mathematics Department's calculator lease program.

➕➖➗✖️ The Minot Area Community Foundation (MACF) has partnered with Minot Public School Foundation (MPSF) to grant $5,000 to the Minot North High School (MNHS) Mathematics Department. MACF Funding was made possible through the Mike & Dorothy Dolan Fund. Funds from both organizations will be used to support the creation of a calculator lease program when Minot North High School opens this fall.

“Supporting our students and classrooms is vital to our community. We are pleased to announce that the Minot Public School Foundation has accepted our challenge to match these funds” states Jason Zimmerman, MACF President. “This collaboration has demonstrated a commitment to enhancing educational opportunities. We hope this joint effort will inspire further support and investment in our schools.”

Teachers from the MNHS Mathematics Department came to the organizations with the goal of providing students with the best possible resources to enhance their educational experience and foster academic excellence. The use of graphing calculators is a requirement for upper-level math classes, but the cost can be a barrier for students to have the proper tools to succeed.

“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the generous grant awarded to us for graphing calculators,” states Julie Mosser, MNHS Mathematics Teacher. “The support will significantly enhance our students’ learning experience in mathematics and science.”

With seed funding from both organizations, the MNHS Mathematics Department is poised to launch a graphing calculator lease program for the upcoming school year, ensuring every student has an equal chance to excel academically.

“The Minot Public School Foundation is proud to partner with the Minot Area Community Foundation by supporting students and teachers with funding for new calculators for the upcoming school year,” says MPSF Board President, Ben Berg. “This coming school year brings lots of excitement to our community as Minot North opens to students and staff for the first time! MPSF strives to support the education of students across our district.”

Minot High School would like to thank First Western Bank and Trust for their donation towards our Magi United Community Service Day fleece blanket project. With their help, along with Minot High DECA and Minot Junior Golf Association, MHS students were able to complete over 300 fleece blankets the last few weeks that were donated to area non-profits like the Matthew 25 Project, Minot Children's Advocacy Center, Project Bee, and all of our MPS elementary and middle schools. Students also completed over 1,000 paracord lanyards through the Operation Gratitude Project for our active duty military members and first responders around the world as well as hundreds of dog toys that were donated to For Belle's Sake Rescue.

As the month of the Military Child is coming to a close. We want to share one of the programs the Minot Public School Foundation (MPSF) has to help support our Military Child students.

The flat-parent program- Military children enrolled in a Minot Public School can order, through their guidance counselors, a flat-parent pillow or life-size cut out of their deployed parent. The MPSF sponsors all the flat-parent cutouts and pillows. The flat parent is great to take to games and other school events so the deployed parent can have a presence while being called away to serve.

The flat-parent pillow, pictured below, is a plush doll of the parent that a child can cuddle and hold, these parent pillows can fit into a backpack and come with a voice recorder that the parent can use to leave a special message for their child.
