In March, we began work on our new restoration site: Bat Box Meadow. We are excited to be working in this new location and we have a lot to do to get us ready for fall planting. Join us for our April Volunteer Restoration Event on Saturday, April 19th from 10am - noon to help us get the site ready! We will be working hard to remove blackberries and other non-native plants and will check on the status of the live stakes we planted last month to see to help start shading out the invasive canary reed grass. We were blessed with beautiful weather for last week's Lakeside Lecture focused on salmon restoration in the park! Great news! The Adaptive Cycle Center at Lake Sammamish State Park will open next week!

Spring is in the air, and that means our Adaptive Cycle Centers are gearing up to open soon! Get ready for FREE adaptive cycling available seven days a week from 10 AM – 6 PM at both locations! Whether you're a returning rider or trying it out for the first time, we can't wait to welcome you back for another season of fun on wheels.

Good luck to the almost 468,000 Coho smolt released yesterday into Issaquah Creek to begin their journey to the Pacific Ocean! The smolt pass through Lake Sammamish, Bellevue, Sammamish, Redmond, Bothell & on to Seattle and take 2-7 days to make the journey They return 5 years later in the Fall to spawn.

We can't wait for our Restoration Open House this Thursday and hope you will join us! If you have participated in a volunteer habitat restoration event in the park or are curious about restoration work in general, this event is for you! Join us Thursday, April 3rd to learn more about all the community-led restoration efforts that are improving wildlife habitat, supporting salmon recovery, boosting carbon sequestration, and enhancing the visitor experience at Lake Sammamish State Park. This event includes a walking tour of current and future projects. Today is “Take a Walk in the Park Day” and we hope you'll celebrate it at Lake Sammamish State Park! This is a great way to honor the bounty of health that we receive from walking in our local parks and public lands. Taking a walk in the park is a healthy habit that helps restore the spirit, alleviate stress, and connects us with nature. Spring is a wonderful time of year to explore Lake Sammamish State Park as the plants are beginning to sprout and bud, birds are fluttering about, and we begin to see the promise of new beginnings.
