: In 1922, The Salvation Army opened the Wai‘oli Tea Room in Mānoa Valley—not just to serve tea, but to serve people. Built as part of the Girls’ Home, it gave young women the tools to build a brighter future through training, education, and community.

For decades, Wai‘oli was a place where meals nourished more than just the body—they nourished lives. Today, as Wai‘oli Kitchen and Bake Shop, that legacy continues. Every time you gather with friends, share a meal with ‘ohana, or host a business lunch or celebration here, you become part of this incredible story of love and transformation.

Celebrating 130 years of unwavering hope, resilience, and transformation—a Legacy of Love that began in Hawai‘i in 1894.

It all started with five selfless individuals answering the call to serve. Invited by Central Union Church, The Salvation Army opened its first meeting hall in Honolulu, offering refuge to the weary and hope to the brokenhearted. Soon, programs expanded to care for vulnerable keiki in a children’s home and to support struggling families in Hilo.

Today, you can be part of this story. Whether through prayer, donation, or service, your support helps continue this incredible legacy—offering meals, shelter, and hope to thousands across Hawai‘i and the Pacific.

Through decades of crisis and change, our mission has remained the same—to serve with dignity, compassion, and love. As we reflect on our , we are reminded that love is the most powerful gift we can give ❤️

E p**e kākou (let us pray) as our hearts go out to Southern California. We pray for safety, strength, and resilience during this unimaginable time. 🙏

This devastation is a scene we are all too familiar with. When Lahaina needed us, we responded with haste. The same commitment drives us today as we care for temporary evacuees, emergency responders, and those displaced from their homes in Los Angeles.

We are currently providing meals and emotional and spiritual care at evacuation shelters in Woodland Hills, at the Westwood Recreation Center in LA, and Ritchie Vales Recreation Center in Pacioma. Two additional shelters are likely to open in the coming hours.
