Therapy pups Bentley and Boo stopped by Holiday Winter Village to give residents high fives, cuddles and kisses.

"We always had dogs growing up," shares Jeanette, a resident. "I love them. Those therapy dogs were just so cute and well-behaved. Everyone smiles and shows them a bunch of attention."

March’s Taste of Holiday lunch transported residents to India with a flavorful menu featuring samosas, chicken curry, naan, basmati rice, achari gobhi and kheer. Residents and their friends savored the experience, which was complemented by screenings of "Slumdog Millionaire", "Lion" and "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel".

We can't wait to see – and taste – the cuisine from our destination next month!

For most of her life, Linda documented the world through painting – capturing the emotions, moments and people she loved in pastels and sketches.

Though glaucoma has now made painting difficult, Linda hasn't stopped telling stories. "I’m a recorder,” she says. “I was a certified Legal Assistant, so I write things down. People ask, ‘How do you remember all that?’ I recorded.”

Now, at 91, she writes—continuing to preserve history, emotion and imagination through her current work in progress, a novel about four women whose lives intertwine over decades. Her first book, "Roads Taken: The Self Portrait of a Blind Artist," was self-published last year.

At Holiday Simi Hills, she’s helped grow a thriving book club, inspiring others to keep exploring new stories. Her advice? “Follow your passion.” Whether through a brush or a pen, Linda continues to do just that. 💙

Happy National Maintenance Worker Appreciation Day! 🛠️

To celebrate, we're highlighting Kirk, who's been a Maintenance Technician at Holiday Winter Village for 17 years.

"I have always enjoyed maintenance work, and this career gives me the opportunity to use my skills and knowledge daily," shares Kirk. "I really enjoy interacting with the residents and my coworkers."

"I enjoy the variety of my work," he adds. "The different challenges day to day have helped me gain more confidence in my problem-solving skills. I hope that daily, even if it's just by doing a small task that is important to a resident, I can make a positive impact on their experience here."

Terry and Emma were born on the same day in 1936 – but Emma was born in Germany, and Terry was born in the United States. They discovered their common bond while participating in an exercise class. Now they celebrate their big day together with both of their families gathering at Holiday Alexis Gardens.

Mary, a resident at Holiday Winter Village, has built many wonderful friendships in the community, including a special bond with Jennifer from the culinary team.

“Jennifer always takes time in her day to check on me and see how I’m doing," shares Mary. "I love hearing about her daughters and all the activities they are involved in. I really am lucky to know so many kind people here.”

Happy anniversary to these two lovebirds!

Gary and Donna, residents of Holiday The Gardens at Wakefield, are celebrating 60 wonderful years of marriage.

Reflecting on their wedding day, Gary recalls the moment he first saw Donna in her wedding dress. “Donna looked beautiful in the dress her mother made for her,” he says.

“My favorite memories of the day were dancing with my new husband and dancing with my father,” Donna adds.

The couple shares that their relationship is built on constant communication, faith and love.

Meet Sandy and Helaine, best friends for 52 years. They met through their husbands and have been inseparable ever since. "We always knew we would end up living close together when we got older," laughs Sandy.

They can't get much closer than being neighbors at Holiday Chateau McKinney, spending their days together enjoying meals and programming.

With a distinguished career as an Air Marshal and Naval Officer, Russell has lived a life of service and adventure. "I also did internal security for the IRS and worked for the Treasury Department," he adds. He mentioned that he did some top-secret work as well, but he couldn't tell us any more than that. What a resume!

We're excited that he and his wife have chosen to spend their golden years at Holiday Simi Hills. "We did a lot of research before moving here," he shares.

After 11 years living in the Simi Valley area, he and his wife found a perfect fit in the Simi Hills community, enjoying the friendly residents and variety of programming.

We're honored to have Russell as a resident and hope to hear more about his amazing career!
