This week HOPPER recognized some amazing Sailors and their achievements, as well as announced their Meritorious Advancments.

🥇 Two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals were awarded to OS2 Torres and IT2 Izaguirre

Three Sailors were appointed to the next pay grade:
HT3 Hargrave, EM3 Uria, and BM3 Chavez

Two Sailors were selected to Meritoriously Advance to the next pay grade:
LS1 Orgain and FCA2 Linkins.

Each and every one of these Sailors have shown outstanding Honor, Courage and Commitment to the Navy and USS HOPPER.

Today, we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of our Navy Ombudsman, Mrs. Samantha Garcia. As a dedicated volunteer, Mrs. Garcia serves as the vital communication link between our command leadership and the families of USS HOPPER.

She is more than just a liaison—she is a trusted resource, a caring advocate, and a professionally trained information and referral specialist, always ready to assist and support our Sailors and their families. Her tireless efforts help bridge the gap, ensuring that our Sailors and their families are well-informed and supported.

We are incredibly grateful for the selfless work Mrs. Garcia does to strengthen the connection between our command and our Navy families. Thank you for all that you do!

On September 14, 1970, Adm. Elmo R. Zumwalt Jr., Chief of Naval Operations, established the Navy Family Ombudsman Program when he issued Z-Gram 24.

Team HOPPER takes a moment to recount the events and honor those lost on 11 September 2001.

On this day, terrorists hijacked four commercial aircraft and flew them into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center complex in New York City.

A third plane was flown into the Pentagon in Arlington, Va.

The fourth hijacked plane, flight 93, fought back, and was crashed into an empty field in western Pennsylvania.

The Twin Towers ultimately collapsed, due to the damage from the impacts and subsequent fires.

Nearly 3,000 people were killed. Most of the fatalities were from the attacks on the World Trade Center. The Pentagon lost 184 civilians and servicemembers and 40 people were killed on Flight 93.

Today was a day of achievement and camaraderie as we celebrated several key milestones in our crew!

⚓ LT Bolena and LT Dubyak were both promoted to Lieutenant Commander in heartfelt ceremonies with their families proudly pinning on their new ranks. We congratulate both officers on these significant career accomplishments! 🎖️

⚓ We also had the honor of recognizing ENS Carter and ENS Urbine for earning their Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) Pins. In a special moment, they had the unique opportunity to pin each other, symbolizing their shared commitment and teamwork. Captain and CSO were present to award them their hard-earned leather jackets that come with this prestigious accomplishment. 🧥

Bravo Zulu to all! We are immensely proud of the leadership, skill, and determination that you continue to demonstrate every day.

🎉 **USS HOPPER Summer Bash 2024 Recap!** 🎉

This afternoon the USS HOPPER crew came together for an incredible Summer Bash, thanks to our amazing Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) team! 🛳️

Sailors and their families enjoyed delicious Chick-fil-A, competitive yard games, and the ultimate splash zone featuring a dunk tank! Our Captain, Executive Officer, Command Master Chief, and Logistics Specialists Chief all took the plunge for our ohana! 🌊🎯

Teams from Combat, Operations, Engineering, Supply and Weapons faced off in an epic tug-of-war, with **Operations** taking home the victory! 🏆💪

Meanwhile, others hit the field for baseball, soccer, and a wild water gun war. ⚾️⚽️💦

It was a perfect day filled with fun, food, and camaraderie as we celebrated the strength and spirit of our Hopper ohana. 🫶🏽

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success!

Today HOPPER Sailors were joined by our new friend by the name of Tuukka from Pet Partners.

Tuukka and his handler Jackie came aboard today to spend some time with our sailors and add a little extra joy to the work day.

USS HOPPER: dedication in Dry Dock.

As we navigate the essential maintenance period in dry dock, the crew of USS HOPPER remains as committed and active as ever. Though our ship may be temporarily docked, our dedication to our duties and respect for our fellow service members and civilians remains steadfast.

This morning, BMSN Haynes solemnly raised Colors to half-staff in honor of those who lost their lives in the 2023 Maui wildfires. This gesture is a reflection of our collective respect and remembrance of the lives tragically affected.

Meanwhile, our Sailors continue to ensure our ship is ready for the challenges ahead. The crew has been hard at work, with Sailors removing gym equipment that served us well during deployment, ensuring we stayed in top form. Their efforts underscore the importance of maintaining both our physical and operational readiness, no matter where we are.

Lastly, we bid farewell to GSM2 Lathrope who departed the ship and on to the next chapter in his journey. The crew formed up and saluted him as the Captain shook his hand in recognition of his dedication and service before granting him permission to go ashore. It was a moment that captured the respect and camaraderie that define our team.

The USS HOPPER team continues to embody the Navy’s core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment, even in the face of challenges. As we prepare for the next chapter, we remain united in our mission and ready to serve.

Today, during our all-hands call, we had the honor of celebrating the exceptional accomplishments of five of our Sailors. These individuals have demonstrated outstanding dedication, skill, and commitment to their duties.

🏅 ENS Piedad: earned the Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) pin.
🏅 Electronics Technician Second Class ET2 Myslivy: earned the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) pin.
🏅 Retail Services Specialist James: received a Letter of Commendation from CCSG-1.
🏅 Chief Damage Control DCC Campbell: received a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
🏅 Quartermaster Third Class QM3 Zipperer received a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
🏅 Information Systems First Class IT1 Malano received a Spot Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal
🏅 Information Systems Second Class IT2 Harmon received a Spot Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
