This latest update flyover video shows construction progress through the project alignment in Segment 2 from the Hālawa (Aloha Stadium) Station to Lelepaua (Daniel K. Inouye International Airport) Station.
The Core Systems installation and on-site testing and commisissiong process is currently ongoing with Segment 2. HART anticipates transferring this segment to the City’s DTS in late 2025.
KEEP OFF THE RAIL TRACK:
The rail track in Segment 2 from the Hālawa (Aloha Stadium) Station to Kahauiki (Middle Street) Station is now energized. The “third rail,” which powers the trains, carries 750 volts of electricity.

This latest construction update flyover video 📹 shows the progress of City Center Utilities Relocation work along the project alignment near the future Kahauiki (Middle Street Transit Center) Station to Kūwili (Iwilei) Station. This work will clear the way for the construction of the columns, guideway, and stations in Segment 3.
HART’s contractor Nan Inc. is currently working in the Kalihi-Palama area, along Kamehameha Highway and Dilingham Boulevard between Middle Street and Kaaahi Street. The completion of the Dillingham utilities relocation work is expected in the first quarter of 2026.

This new video shows recent images of HART’s construction along the rail alignment starting from Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Station to the location of the future Civic Center Station and highlights ongoing work in Segments 2 and 3.
SEGMENT 2 (Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam to Middle Street Transit Center)
• Four (4) stations between Aloha Stadium and the Middle Street Transit Center expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2024.
• Track and Guidway construction work is complete.
• HART has begun core systems installation of power cables, communications systems, and signaling equipment.
• Anticipated transfer to DTS in 2025 for the opening of service.

HART’s contractor Shimmick/Traylor/Granite Joint-Venture (STG), is currently constructing 5.2 miles of elevated guideway and four stations as part of the Honolulu Rail Transit Project’s ✈️ Airport Guideway and Stations (AGS) segment. Station construction is ongoing.
In addition, Hitachi Rail Honolulu will continue installing core systems equipment, and we anticipate transferring this segment to the Department of Transportation Services (DTS) for passenger service by mid-2025.

This time-lapse ⏰ video, spanning from January 2021 to September 2023, showcases the construction 🚧 progress of the Lelepaua (Daniel K. Inouye International Airport) Station. Positioned near Terminal 2 and the International Parking Garages, this station will offer a convenient and swift access point for residents and visitors traveling to and from Oahu.
The Lelepaua Station pays homage to the Hawaiian traditions of navigation and wayfinding. The station will showcase elements that symbolize the ocean, wind, and celestial bodies. It is the eleventh station on the rail alignment and is part of the second segment of the system, which is not yet open for passenger service.
Construction of the Lelepaua Station is over 90% complete, and we anticipate the station to be completed in mid-2025.
