Meet Tre, a Landfill Systems Technician at ACUA. Every day, nearly 2 million pounds of trash arrive at our landfill. As it decomposes, it produces landfill gas. Tre and our Landfill Team help ensure it is captured efficiently. From monitoring gas wells to welding pipes and operating heavy equipment, his job keeps the system running safely. 🔧
Just keep skimming, just keep skimming… 🎵 In our wastewater treatment clarifiers, water slows down, allowing solids to settle while lighter materials—like fats, oils, and grease—rise to the top. That’s where the rake arms come in! They continuously skim the surface, collecting scum, which is then concentrated, mixed, and sent to the incinerator. The resulting ash is repurposed as part of the daily cover at the landfill, along with dirt.
Since Monday’s snowstorm, our incredible team has been hard at work, ensuring the community’s trash, recycling, and wastewater are handled responsibly—even in the most challenging conditions. ❄️ Your dedication doesn’t go unnoticed, and we can’t thank you enough for all you do to manage waste in Atlantic County and keep our communities clean, no matter the weather! 👏
