This past weekend, the Town of Hammonton held its annual Lake & Community Cleanup!

More than 100 dedicated volunteers came together to collect 53 bags of trash and 33 bags of recycling, making a huge difference for the local environment. 💪🌎

ACUA was proud to support the effort by providing cleanup supplies, safety gear, and a truck to help haul the collected litter to our Environmental Park for proper disposal. A special shoutout to our Solid Waste Division team for lending a hand!

Thank you to all the volunteers who pitched in to keep the community beautiful! 👏

This past Sunday, participants joined us to learn how simple steps like installing a rain barrel can make a big impact—saving water, preventing pollution, and supporting healthy gardens! 🌿🌻

Special thanks to Morgan, our local Watershed Ambassador from the AmeriCorps NJ Watershed Ambassadors Program, for sharing her expertise and helping everyone build their own barrels to take home and put to use. 👏🔧

Safety First! 🦺⚠️

On Monday, ACUA team members helped promote onsite safety by providing customers and haulers with a safety brochure highlighting details of our safety requirements. ACUA was able to secure a grant and purchased PPE for our customers! We distributed hard hats, and high-visibility safety vests to haulers that came over the scale that day.

Anyone disposing of materials at the transfer station, landfill, and yard waste composting area, must wear be wearing a high visibility garment and a hard hat. Vests and hard hats will be available at the Scale House and provided to those that do not have them. They must be returned when exiting the scale.

Thanks to everyone for doing their part to stay safe!

Our Environmental Park recently welcomed the Atlantic County Master Composters for a tour of our solid waste and recycling operations! 🚛♻

They saw firsthand how trash is managed at our transfer station and landfill, how recyclables are processed at our recycling center, and how yard waste is transformed into nutrient-rich EcoSoil at our composting facility. 🌱🍂

They later stopped by Stockton University Farm, Absegami High School, and Reeds Farm to learn about their composting practices.

Thank you for stopping by!

It was THAT cold! ❄️🥶 Last week’s frigid temperatures turned the spray from our aeration basins into these incredible (and gross) icicles. When it gets this cold, even the treatment process can turn itself into a winter wonderland—just maybe not one you'd want to touch!

Giving Christmas Trees a Second Life! 🌲♻️

ACUA is proud to support the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge by providing Christmas trees collected from our community.

The trees prevent shoreline erosion by acting as a natural barrier and slowing wave action, which allows sediment to build up and protect critical habitats for waterfowl, shorebirds, and other wildlife. 🦆

If you placed your Christmas tree out with yard waste this year — thank you! Your trees are making a real impact.
