An opportunity to join the discussion about the probable closure of Hubbell Elementary School.

“Everyone's voice is welcome and encouraged - not just families of Hubbell. We know especially for your neighborhood, the Hubbell playground is the only walkable park. With the Roosevelt repurposing, the playground will also be removed.”

⚠️ SNOW ORDINANCE IN EFFECT AT 10PM: Snow Routes ⚠️

🅿️ Please refrain from parking on Snow Route streets until we shift into neighborhood plowing (we will update you here and at DMSnow.org)

🚮 NO DELAY to waste collection unless we announce otherwise. Please have carts out by 7AM.

🚗 Stay home if possible, but if you have to drive during winter weather, take it slow and watch for our plows. They have several blind spots and are carrying MUCH more weight — give them a wide berth.

🏘️ We will begin plowing neighborhoods AFTER snowfall ends and a final pass of Snow Routes has been completed. Residents must have sidewalks cleared within 48 hours after snowfall ends.

❄️ Keep up with our operations and parking restrictions by following us here, texting SNOW to 515-355-8815, and visiting DMSnow.org.

❤️ We appreciate your patience — and your practice of safe winter driving — as we work to keep Des Moines 2,200+ miles of roadways clear!

🎃👻 Des Moines Beggars' Night Survey 👻🎃

For over 80 years, Des Moines children have gone trick-or-treating on October 30, celebrating what we call “Beggars' Night.” But this year, due to weather and safety concerns, we shifted to October 31—traditional Halloween! Now, we want to hear from YOU: Should Beggars' Night remain on October 30, or should we make Halloween the official trick-or-treat night in Des Moines? Or even the weekend prior??? 👀👀👀

Take our quick survey and let your voice be heard on the future of this long-standing tradition! 📝 The survey closes on November 15, and you can access it at dsm.city/beggarsnightsurvey.
