Ways you can keep up with — and participate in — the legislative process and the Denver City Council:

•Start small: Find one or two news outlets covering city government and make reading, listening, or watching a habit. Denver has lots of great local journalism that covers the Council regularly.

• Get localized: Look up your City Council district and subscribe to your council member’s newsletter. Remember that residents have three members representing them: their district Council member and the two at-large members. (https://bit.ly/find_my_district)

• Stay current first-hand: Subscribe to the weekly schedule summary (This is also available on our website). It comes out each Thursday and it lays out what committees will be talking about as well as any public input opportunities like public hearings in the following week—perfect for tuning in on the topics that matter to you. You can watch live or access videos of the meetings on-demand. The archived videos are even indexed so you can skip to the item you’re interested in. (https://bit.ly/PartOfTheConversation)

• Connect directly: Schedule office hours with your Council representative to share your perspective. Each district office also accepts emailed comments and input.

• Find formal public testimony and input opportunities: Sign up for public hearings or committee input sessions on issues you care about. The weekly General Public Comment session is another avenue for speaking to the full Council on issues and to give ideas. The weekly schedule above will list any public hearings or input sessions happening in the following week, as does the Council website. (https://denvergov.org/citycouncil)

• Social media is still an option. The Office of Denver City Council remains on Facebook and LinkedIn.
