⚠️TRAVEL ALERT⚠️ | Niwot Road closure at CO 119 in Boulder

7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 29, and again from 9 p.m., Monday, April 7 through 5 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, the Niwot Road median will be closed between northbound and southbound Colorado Highway 119/Diagonal Highway. The road will be closed to all modes of transportation to install the bikeway underpass at Niwot Road. During the closure on Saturday, March 29, the sidewalk will remain open.

🔶 Motorist Detour: Westbound traffic will head north on CO 119/Diagonal Highway, use Airport Road to get on southbound CO 119/Diagonal Highway, and exit onto westbound Niwot Road. Eastbound traffic will head south on CO 119/Diagonal Highway, turn left onto Colorado Highway 52, and turn left onto northbound 79th Street to return to eastbound Niwot Road.

📢PROJECT UPDATE📢 | Resurfacing Work Resumes on US 34 and US 36 in Estes Park

Crews will return in early April to resume the US 34 and US 36 Resurfacing Project in Estes Park following a winter shutdown. The project is expected to be completed by late May.

🗺WHERE? US 36/Moraine Avenue from Mary's Lake Road to Park River Place (MP 4.9 to 6) AND US 34/Big Thompson Avenue from US 36/North St. Vrain Avenue to Mall Road (MP 62 to 65)

🚜WHAT? Crews will mill and repave the roadway, enhance approaches, and update access points on US 36. Once work on US 36 is complete, milling and paving will transition to US 34.

⚠️TRAVEL IMPACTS: Daytime work hours are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekend work may be required to maintain the project schedule. On US 36, traffic will be reduced to a single lane with alternating flow directed by flaggers, while US 34 will maintain one open lane in each direction. Construction vehicles will be active within the work zone, and weekend work may occur as needed to stay on schedule. Please note that the construction schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions.

⚠️TRAVEL ALERT⚠️ | Southbound I-25 and Weld County Road 34 full closures near Mead

Southbound under will be temporarily closed near on Wednesday, Mar. 26, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. WCR 34 and the E. Frontage Road at I-25 north of WCR 34 will also be closed during these times. In case of weather or other impacts, a contingency night on Thursday, March 27, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. has been scheduled.

Crews will install new bridge deck panels across the roadway as part of the I-25 North Express Lanes Project. Motorists should follow posted detour signage in the area and plan for delays.
🔸 Southbound I-25 traffic will be rerouted using the off- and on-ramps at WCR 34 (mile point 245), and northbound I-25 will have a left lane closure. No turning movements will be allowed on or off WCR 34 during this time.
🔸 Eastbound WCR 34 traffic will turn south on County Road 7, turn east on Colorado Highway 66, and turn north on Colorado Boulevard to WCR 34.
🔸 Westbound WCR 34 traffic will turn south on Colorado Boulevard, turn west on CO 66, and turn north on CR 7 to WCR 34.
🔸 Southbound E. Frontage Rd. traffic will turn east on Weld County Road 36, turn south on Colorado Boulevard, and turn west on Weld County Road 32 to the E. Frontage Rd.
🔸 Northbound E. Frontage Rd. traffic will turn east on WCR 32, turn north on Colorado Boulevard, and turn west on WCR 36 to the E. Frontage Rd.
🔸 For I-25 access to WCR 34, traffic will be directed to the I-25 and CO 66 interchange and follow other routes to the east or west.

📢PROJECT NEWS📢 | US 6 Culvert Improvements in Garfield County

Crews have began culvert improvement work along US 6. The project is anticipated to be complete by the beginning of April 2025.

🗺WHERE? Near the US 6 intersection with Phillips Drive between Rifle and Silt

🚜WHAT? Work will consist of one culvert replacement and improving one culvert. This will create safer driving conditions by lowering the risk of flooding.

⚠️TRAVEL IMPACTS: Daytime work hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Expect 10-minute delays, one-lane alternating traffic and a speed reduction (40 mph).

🚫US 6 Loveland Pass is CLOSED🚫 - 4:30 p.m. (3/23/25) - The pass is closed due to safety concerns and winter maintenance operations and will remain closed overnight. Hazmat vehicles are to stage at the Eisenhower Tunnel and will run at the top of the hour or as traffic allows.

🔸9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, March 24, and Thursday, March 27 - Expect 20-minute traffic holds multiple times per day for rock blasting operations above eastbound and westbound I-70 between the Veterans Memorial Tunnels and the Homestead Road interchange near Idaho Springs. Intermittent traffic holds on Central City Parkway, County Road 314, US 6 and US 40 may be necessary. Plan for delays up to 45 minutes as each traffic queue clears. Stay on I-70. Please view our Project update below for more information.

🔸Expect traffic shifts on I-70. On eastbound I-70, traffic will shift toward the median near Hidden Valley. On westbound I-70, traffic will shift toward the median, just east of the US 6 interchange. Please pay extra attention to the new traffic patterns, slow down and drive safely.

🔸7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, through Thursday, March 27 - Expect daytime closures of the Homestead Road on-ramp (Exit 247) to westbound I-70.

🔸Watch for daytime and overnight lane and shoulder closures project-wide, Tuesday through Saturday on eastbound and westbound I-70.

🚧There will be a temporary full closures of several areas including:

🔸 Northbound South Academy Boulevard at US 85/87 from 7 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Monday, March 24 through Tuesday March 25, and 3 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 29 for welding operations on the bridge structures over US 85/87

🔸 Northbound I-25 temporary full closure between MP 127 and 135 on Thursday, March 27, 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., to inspect concrete panels and damaged guardrail and cable rail

Detours are in place, and these closures are weather dependent and subject to change.

Watch for blowing snow and reduced visibility with wind gusts of up to 35 mph expected. Road conditions can change quickly. Your best source for real-time information is COtrip.org.

🚫Westbound I-70 at Vail Pass is CLOSED🚫 - 7:00 p.m. (3/22/25) - Closed between Exit 190: Vail Pass Summit and Exit 180: East Vail due to a multiple-vehicle crash. Expect delays, adverse winter conditions and poor visibility.

Beginning mid-March, crews will begin a concrete panel replacement project on US 85 Business in Greeley. The project is expected to be completed by late October.

🗺WHERE? US 85 Business (8th Avenue), from 5th Street to O Street in Greeley

🚜WHAT? The old concrete panels will be replaced with new pavement, and asphalt shoulders will be renewed. New curb ramps will be installed for improved accessibility, and upgrades to the Cache la Poudre River bridges will enhance safety with deck repairs and updated guardrails.

⚠️TRAVEL IMPACTS: Daytime work will occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with possible weekend work. Expect lane closures on both northbound and southbound US 85 Business (8th Avenue). Use an alternate route, such as the US 85 Bypass, to avoid delays. Speed limits will be reduced in the work zone. The schedule is weather-dependent and subject to change.

⚠️UPDATE - 10:30 a.m. (3/22/25) - Adverse weather conditions with snow accumulation, reduced visibility and wind gusts west of the I-70 Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel, particularly from east of Vail Pass to Vail. Be prepared for winter driving and check out the cameras on COtrip.org to get a live look at the roads.⚠️

More snow and wind are expected through the Northern and Central Mountains, arriving late tonight (3/21/25) through Sunday morning. While there will still be peak travel periods, congestion along the the I-70 Mountain Corridor historically spreads out as weekday travel continues. Check out peak traffic data, when planning your mountain travel.

🚫Eastbound US 138 is CLOSED 🚫 - 7 p.m. (3/19/25) - US 138 eastbound is also closed from Sterling to the Nebraska state line. Travelers are urged to find an alternate route. Please note, I-70 eastbound is OPEN from Denver to Kansas.

🚫Eastbound I-76 is CLOSED 🚫 - 7 p.m. (3/19/25) - Eastbound I-76 is closed from Sterling to Nebraska I-80. This is an extended closure that will last through tomorrow morning to assist with the extreme winter blizzard incident in Nebraska including snow, high winds, downed power lines.
