🚨 Carjacking Suspects Captured After Pursuit in Arvada 🚔
On January 13, 2025, a group of juveniles pistol-whipped a driver at a Lakewood gas station and stole his Jeep Grand Cherokee at gunpoint. The stolen vehicle was later detected by a Flock camera in Arvada near W 52nd Ave and Yarrow St. Arvada officers located the Jeep at the Park Terrace Apartments, where the suspects fled upon spotting police.
Follow officers' body worn camera and surveillance footage to see how the incident unfolded and was resolved!
After a brief pursuit, officers executed a successful PIT maneuver on Wadsworth Blvd. Immediately after the Jeep came to a stop, one suspect fled on foot. Officers initiated a high-risk stop on the Jeep, but the driver began ramming patrol vehicles in an attempt to escape. Officers quickly repositioned, pinning the Jeep and taking the driver (16) and remaining passenger (16) into custody without further incident. Seconds later, Wheat Ridge Police Department officers located the fleeing suspect (15) hiding in a dumpster nearby and detained him with assistance from an Arvada sergeant.
A .40 caliber Glock handgun with an auto switch was recovered from the stolen Jeep. Lakewood Police Department will be filing charges in this case. Two of the suspects are linked to other recent auto thefts under investigation by Arvada PD.
When you call about an injured or sick animal, we do what we can to take care of it. If it is a domestic pet, we have a local veterinary partner who can take care of it.
Now, we have our partners at Rocky Mountain Wildlife Alliance to consult with regarding Arvada's wildlife.

Package delivery season is ramping up.
When you think you'll have a friend remove the package that was just delivered to your porch, a criminal arrives first. These people did everything right, but the thief still made off with the product.
Remember that you can pick up the package at delivery drop centers, have a secure lock box on your patio to prevent porch thefts, or request time deliveries when you are home. Try to limit the time that the package is on your porch.
We encourage community members to report these crimes, even online. We have been recovering items after the fact. In one case, APD investigated a burglary and recovered hundreds of pieces of mail and other items, totaling around 500 victims. This makes it easier to return property when we find it and prosecute criminals.

We've noticed a rise in bike thefts, garage burglaries, and vehicle trespasses/thefts this summer. In many instances, these crimes involved open gates or garages, unlocked doors, and vehicles left with keys inside.
Watch the video to see how quickly these incidents can happen and take action to protect your property:
✔️ Close and lock garages, doors, and gates when not in use
✔️ Remove valuables and lock vehicles, even at home
✔️ Report any suspicious activity by calling 720-898-6900
Let's work together to keep our community safe. Stay informed and stay vigilant!
