Dear AMR Denver Team,

It is with a heavy heart that I share the sad news of the passing of our beloved colleague and friend, Lt. Kory Miller. Kory passed away peacefully in his sleep this morning, free from pain after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He fought bravely every step of the way, embodying strength, and resilience until his final moments.

Kory dedicated his life to this community, serving with unwavering commitment and passion for 34 years, 11 months, and 23 days. His legacy of service to others, both as a paramedic and as a leader, is a profound reminder of what it means to truly give oneself to a calling. EMS was more than a job for Kory—it was his life’s work, and the relationships he built with his fellow paramedics and EMTs will endure long beyond this moment.

When I first joined the team, Kory was the very first Denver member I had the privilege of sitting down with. In our conversation, he shared not only the details of his illness but also his hopes and vision for AMR Denver. He spoke about what this operation could become and how we could make it even stronger, serving the community he held so dear. His openness, kindness, and insights left a deep impression on me. Meeting someone only once and feeling that kind of impact is a testament to the extraordinary person Kory was.

Earlier today, I spoke with Marc Panio, who shared a story that I felt truly captures Kory’s warmth and humor. Whenever anyone went on vacation, Kory would always say, “Bring me back a coconut.” So, Kory, when we all see you again, we’ll be bringing coconuts for you.

I know many of you have your own cherished memories of Kory. To honor his memory, we’ve created a Kory Miller Remembrance Wall where you’re invited to share your stories, memories, and thoughts. Let’s come together as a team and a family to remember him and support each other during this time of loss.

The GMR Life Team and our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) are available to support anyone who may need assistance. If you would like help connecting with these services, please reach out to any member of leadership or contact Dawn Jones.

Please take care of yourselves and each other. Kory’s spirit and dedication will remain a cornerstone of AMR Denver, and his impact will be felt for years to come. We will carry his memory forward, honoring his legacy of compassion, strength, and commitment to service.

With heartfelt sympathy,

Samuel Bridgewater III
Operations Manager
