This hazardous weather outlook is for central Indiana.
DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop early this afternoon and
continue through the evening. A few storms could produce damaging winds. Lightning is a hazard in all thunderstorms
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.

Thunderstorms are expected across portions of the area Thursday with the potential for severe weather. Thunderstorm chances will continue for Friday, and return again early next week.

Excessive heat will also be a concern Wednesday with heat index
values between 100 and 105 for much of central Indiana.

Possibility of severe weather tomorrow. Southern part of Madison County is in a Slight risk of severe weather. Remainder of the County is in a Marginal Risk.

Key Messages for Wednesday

➔ Multiple rounds of thunderstorms are expected Wednesday afternoon through Friday
➔ Thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon and evening could be severe.

◆ Primary severe risk will be damaging winds
◆ Greatest area of concern is along and south of a Rushville, to Martinsville, to Sullivan line
● Still a risk further north, but higher uncertainty

➔ Potential high heat risk on Wednesday
◆ High temperatures over southern Indiana are expected to exceed 90 with dew points in the low to mid 70s.
◆ Max Heat Index Values of 100-105 possible

From Madison County Emergency Management Agency and US National Weather Service Indianapolis very hot dangerous weather will be with use through the weekend. If you have to be outside take it easy. Limit your time in the sun and take breaks in a cool place. Watch for symptoms of heat exhaustion and stroke. Do not ignore warning signs your body gives you. Watch for others around for the same signs. Never leave anyone or pets in vehicles; report such occurrences.

Signs of heat-related illnesses include an extremely high body temperature (above 103°F); red, hot and dry skin (no sweating); rapid, strong pulse; throbbing headache; dizziness; nausea; confusion; muscle cramps; tiredness and unconsciousness. If someone starts to experience these symptoms, seek medical help immediately and move them to a shady spot, if outdoors, and begin cooling them using whatever methods are available.

Hot and humid conditions will continue through this week with heat indices approaching 100 each afternoon.

..Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of southwestern Madison, northern Shelby, Hancock, southwestern Henry, eastern Marion and Hamilton Counties through 200 PM EDT...

At 111 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 6 miles northeast of Zionsville to Lawrence to 7 miles east of Beech Grove. Movement was northeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

Elevated excessive rainfall risk

DISCUSSION...

Another round of showers and thunderstorms will develop along a
passing front this afternoon. There is an isolated large hail and
damaging wind gusts risk with these storms. Any storms that move
over repeated areas could produce localized flooding.

Storm motion this afternoon will be from west to east between 35
and 40 MPH.
