New York’s Finest Honored in 2025 NVFC Awards
The National Volunteer Fire Council has announced the recipients of the 2025 Fire Service Achievement Awards.
These awards recognize individuals who have gone above and beyond in their service to the fire service and their communities.
This year’s honorees are:
🔥David Denniston, William J. Darley Lifetime Achievement Award: With over 30 years of service, David has been a dedicated advocate for firefighter safety and leadership. He serves with the Cortlandville Fire Department and has educated thousands of responders while leading national efforts to protect the volunteer fire service.
🔥Jiya Jadhav, Junior Firefighter of the Year Award: As first lieutenant of the New Hyde Park Fire Department Junior Fire Department, Jiya has demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and involvement in training, events, and fundraising.
🔥Brian McQueen, E. James Monihan Director Award: A 14-year NVFC board member, Brian has been a tireless advocate for firefighter health, particularly in the fight against firefighter cancer. He serves with the Whitesboro Fire Department and played a key role in passing the Firefighter Cancer Registry Act.
These exceptional individuals will be honored at the NVFC Spring Conference on May 9 in Alexandria, VA.
Their commitment sets a high standard for volunteer fire service excellence.
