Our April virtual author talks start next Wednesday with New York Times big time bestseller, Jodi Picoult, who will talk about her newest novel, "By Any Other Name."

On the 8th, Smithsonian Horticulturalist, Matthew Fleming, guides us through the secret world of trees.

Then, on the 24th, bestselling author Gregg Hurwitz will chat with us about his Orphan X series and his life as a writer of suspenseful storytelling.

You can watch these talks from anywhere. No logins required, but if you sign up for upcoming talks you can even submit your questions to the authors, which is cool! Just use our microsite to explore all the past and upcoming talks: https://libraryc.org/albanypubliclibrary

We'll also be featuring some in-branch screenings of past author talks, including those from Nate Klemp (4/18), Tiffany Aliche (4/23), and Joy Harjo (4/25).

APL’s mascot is a bird. The Egg is, well, in the shape of an egg. If you thought we’d never team up I don’t know what to tell you 🦉💞🥚

Here’s what we’ve hatched, friends: The Egg Presents Performance Pass! The Washington Ave Branch will now have one pass good for two admissions for every day of the week. That means any day there is an “Egg Presents” event, we’ve got two free admissions waiting for you!

Over the next two weeks you can go see an eight-time Grammy winner, an Indian dance and music celebration, a kids music superstar, and even the viral internet sensation of Ally and her bagpipes of rock 🤘🤘🤘

All the details can be found here:

https://www.albanypubliclibrary.org/books-and-more/museum-passes/

And for all The Egg Presents events:

https://www.theegg.org/events/?series=egg-presents

The pass cannot be reserved and is only available for City of Albany residents. It can be checked out no earlier than the Monday prior to the day of the performance. And note: the pass does not apply to every event at the venue. Look for “The Egg Presents” when checking out their events calendar.

Thanks to The Egg Performing Arts Center!!!

An executive order issued by the Trump administration on Friday called for the elimination of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the nation’s only federal agency for America’s libraries.

The American Library Association is asking everyone to show up for our libraries. And you can show up by contacting your lawmakers. To do that is simple and takes little time; there's a form email here you can use, or customize your message:
bit.ly/ProtectLibraryFunding

While we can't promise that your lawmakers will advocate on your behalf, they are surely more likely to if you remind them that you care. Appreciate you 💕
