The New York City Chapter of Citizen Action of New York has announced a slate of endorsements for candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing social and economic justice. These endorsed candidates have pledged to fight for progressive policies that prioritize the needs of working families, racial and economic equity, and investments in public services that strengthen communities.

“Our endorsed candidates share our vision of a New York where everyone has access to quality healthcare, affordable housing, fully funded public schools, and a fair economy that works for all,” said Jesse Koklas, NYC Regional Director at Citizen Action of New York. “We need leaders who will stand up to corporate interests, push for bold policies that uplift working people, and ensure that every New Yorker, regardless of zip code, has the resources they need to thrive.”

The Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) helps families across the state afford child care, including daycare and afterschool/summer care. New York City Administration of Children’s Services (ACS) began publicly sounding the alarm in February 2025 that they are about to run out of Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) funds. Without more CCAP funding in this year’s state budget, ACS will be forced to turn away new applicants for child care assistance, and deny recertification to low-income families currently receiving assistance.

Join us as we phone bank to demand that the governor and legislature invest in CCAP and in paying childcare educators - the vast majority of whom are women of color - who continue to struggle in poverty.

The Western New York organizer will engage with several issues, including a primary focus on education justice in Buffalo City schools with an eye towards building local issue campaigns, electoral campaigns, and large mobilizations to the State Capitol that amplify the urgent education needs of parents, youth, and children in the region.
