Mr. Rohit Babbar, First Secretary & Head of Chancery attended the handing over ceremony of the elementary school in Paklay District constructed under the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation Quick Impact Project (QIP) with GOI grant assistance on 31 January 2025.

The school would directly benefit young children of Paklay District to receive elementary education in their own vicinity.

Mr. Rohit Babbar, First Secretary & Head of Chancery attended the handing over ceremony of the Quick Impact Project (QIP) for construction of ICT Training Centre with provision of ICT equipment under Mekong Ganga Cooperation with GOI grant assistance on 30 January 2025 in Xayaboury Province.
The ICT Centre would enhance knowledge and skills of the people and students of Xayaboury Province at the grassroot level.

Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) deliver development to rural communities at grassroots level.

Ambassador Prashant Agrawal presided over the opening ceremony of a Community Health Centre in the Chom Ong Village. This Quick Impact Project (QIP) was completed under Mekong Ganga Cooperation (MGC) and is estimated to provide healthcare facilities to more than 3600 people of villages.

76th Republic Day of India was celebrated at the Embassy of India with joy and enthusiasm.

The tricolor was unfurled by Ambassador of India Shri Prashant Agrawal, who also read out Hon. President’s Message to the Nation delivered on the eve of Republic day.

Indian community and Friends from Lao PDR joined the celebrations with great fervour and presented cultural performances. During the event, the winners of Bharat ko Janiye Quiz were also felicitated.

Ambassador also recognized Mr. Soukthavy Chowdhury, the first recipient from Lao PDR of Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA) who was conferred PBSA2025 recently.

A special tourism promotion event for boosting tourism flows between 'Incredible India' Incredible India and 'Simply Beautiful Laos' was organized in the Chancery today.

Mr. Rohit Babbar, Head of Chancery, made a presentation on increasing outbound tourism from Lao PDR to India, with the state of Uttar Pradesh (UP) being the focus state and special emphasis on Mahakumbh Mela and the Buddhist Circuit in Uttar Pradesh.

The Event saw wide ranging participation with notable members including Most Ven. Phoukham, Deputy Director General, Buddhist Sangha; Ms Duangmala Phommavong, Managing Director of Exo travel and Vice- President of Lao Association of Travel Agents; representatives from Lao Airlines and other members of Travel Agencies of Lao PDR.

Ambassador Prashant Agrawal exchanged views with participants on bilateral tourism and popularising India as favoured tourist destination for nationals of Lao PDR.
