Victims of the Southern California fires have lost everything – not just their homes and belongings, but family members and friends. We must bring the full force of the federal government to aid these victims, and we must do so without any conditions on our aid. Full Stop.
We are the Congress of the United States of America. Americans are in trouble. When they need us, we are there.
The 2017 tax cut bill added $1.5 trillion to our national debt and delivered massive tax cuts to the rich. Working families received pennies compared to billionaires — a taxpayer earning $1 million or more has received a tax cut 288 times greater than a taxpayer making $50,000 or less. Extending this bill would be reckless.

In California, TANF funds have temporarily supported over 300,000 families in need. Democrats are ready and willing to work across the aisle with Republicans to strengthen TANF and provide the necessary safeguards to prevent misuse.
I am a firm believer that access to a healthy lifestyle can make a big difference in reducing the prevalence of chronic disease in America. It’s critical we invest in policies that support healthy lifestyles and help develop innovative treatment options.
Ghost guns, which are untraceable firearms, remain a major gun violence threat in our communities. I won’t support legislation that makes it easier for bad guys to get their hands on these weapons.
HAPPENING NOW: Join Rep. Thompson, guests from the Woodland Chamber of Commerce and Yolo Healthy Aging Alliance, and current and future beneficiaries at the Woodland Senior Center to mark Social Security’s upcoming 89th birthday. For nearly nine decades, the program has provided comprehensive benefits for retirees and persons with disabilities while bringing money into our local economy.
Weekly Wrap Up
This week, I voted to authorize critical water infrastructure projects that will benefit our district. I also met with families of Israeli hostages to hear their stories and advocate to bring their loved ones home. Watch this week’s wrap up to learn more.
Headed back home yesterday, but not before recording our weekly wrap up! This week, the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force took new action to ban dangerous bump stocks and I secured over $15 million in federal funds for projects across every county in our district.
