Shannon Powers has a more diverse work experience than his opponent for District Judge. Shannon has been involved in more aspects of the criminal justice system than his opponent including work experience as a deputy jailer, a former member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 21, a supervisor at the McCracken Regional Juvenile Detention Center, a parole officer assigned to Graves County, a correctional officer at the Kentucky State Penitentiary, and as an attorney in private practice before returning to work for the Department of Public Advovacy where he has been primarily involved with felony defense work. This various experience makes Shannon the more qualified candidate to deal with the varied issues a District Judge is required to oversee. District judges are more than just an extension of the prosecution in misdemeanor or traffic court. A fair and impartial Judge is able to view an issue from both sides and make rulings that are fair and impartial. Thank you for your time and consideration.
