The Law School Caucus - a caucus of the College Democrats of America - is the law student arm of the Democratic National Committee. We support over 85 chapters at law schools across the country in their efforts to advance justice and other Democratic ideals. We work to ensure that every eligible voter is allowed to cast a vote and that every vote is counted, support Democratic campaigns and candid

ates, and cultivate the next generation of Democratic leaders. Our work includes:

● Assisting Democratic campaigns with voter protection, legal and policy research, and getting out the vote;
● Helping law students become involved in Democratic campaigns and causes;
● Preparing law students for careers in public service;
● Raising awareness of important legal and political issues; and
● Empowering law students to become leaders in Democratic politics.

Busloads of illegal voters, cited by voter fraud groups like True the Vote, have yet to be seen. But that has not deterred such organizations, which widely support conservative causes.

Tri-State area law students!

The Obama Campaign is seeking NY Attorneys and Law Students to assist in Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) on Primary Day, Tuesday, April 24th. Law Students from neighboring states, and of course in PA, are encouraged to volunteer as well!

Pennsylvania was one of many states that have changed their voting requirements and are now requiring specific photo identification in order to vote. The campaign expects that this will cause confusion for some of the President's most loyal supporters in urban Philadelphia. The primary provides the only real opportunity to perform a trial run before Election Day in November. The campaign is seeking volunteers to staff polling sites to assist voters, and more importantly to survey voters regarding problems they encounter as a result of the new laws.

Unlike NY, the PA Presidential Primary is held on the same day as local primaries, so turnout is expected to be "normal." (In NY, turnout is expected to be extremely low.)

In addition to Pennsylvania lawyers, the campaign is hoping that NY could provide 15-25 additional attorneys to assist with the efforts. DC DLC Voter Protection Volunteer Night - April 10 and 24

D.C. area law students!

Please join the DC Democratic Lawyers Council for two great events at the DuPont Panera Bread (Downstairs Area, located at 1350 Connecticut Ave, NW) to work on current voter protection research issues!

The events are today, Tuesday, April 10, 2012, and Tuesday, April 24, 2012 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Volunteers receive a short research project that can be completed during the two-hour timeframe, and many take additional projects home to complete from the comforts of their couch.

Hannah Fried, Deputy General Counsel of the DNC Voter Protection Department, will be joining us on the call!

Ms. Fried will be discussing the DNC’s efforts in fighting restrictive voting rights legislation, and how Law Dem leaders can do their part in protecting the right to vote by organizing their chapter members to perform critical election law research for the campaign.

Ms. Fried will also be fielding questions on DNC summer internships, and other opportunities for Law Dems to get involved with the DNC and the presidential re-election campaign!
