Today marks 122 years since King County Sheriff’s Office Deputy John Williams lost his life in the line of duty.

Almost a year earlier in July 1902, Deputy Williams was shot while setting up an ambush roadblock in the hopes of catching a convict who had escaped from the Oregon State Penitentiary. The suspect, who had sparked a manhunt after killing six (6) in his escape, wounded Deputy Williams who later died from complications on March 18th.

His valor and service will forever be honored.

A first for fighting fires!
Our Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) team along with the King County International Airport unveiled the new Striker Volterra hybrid electric fire truck today.
KCIA is the first airport in the country to take delivery of a truck like this.
Fun Facts:
It's got a 3,000-gallon water tank, can pump 1250 gallons-per minute- and can go from 0-50 mph in 25 seconds.
Now we can retire our 30-year-old diesel truck and move on to 'greener' pastures.
Oh and check out our totally awesome video.
