Join our Seed Swap this Saturday at the Central Library to start planning your perfect spring garden. Bring in your own seed from home to swap with fellow gardeners, and take advantage of the free seed being provided by Nine Square Feet, a local gardening organization. We'll have seed for vegetables and herbs, flowers, native plants, and more. The Central Library meeting room wing will be open 9 AM-5 PM as a warming center. DART is also providing free rides to warming centers.

All DMPL locations are closed today, Monday, January 20 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Due to the extreme cold, the Central Library meeting room wing will be serving as a warming center from 9 AM-5 PM.

Central Library will be CLOSED other than the meeting rooms, and no library services will be available. DART is providing free rides to warming centers.

Two exceptions:
Due to the extreme cold, the meeting room wing at Central Library will open 9 AM-5 PM as a warming center.

The Forest Avenue Library will be open from 3:30-5 PM for the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration with Deidre DeJear.

The Des Moines Public Library is excited to be partnering again with Rob Johnson and the Fueling Hope Gas Giveaway event TODAY (January 19)! The giveaway will be at Kwik Star located at 5145 NE 14th St, Des Moines, IA 50313. Our mascot Rosie and members of our outreach team will be there to giveaway 500 books to families in need.

The Tiny Art Show is here, and it is amazing! More than 100 artists of all ages created mini-masterpieces that will be on display at Central Library until the end of January.
