Last night, we enjoyed meeting with a strong community group in Kiowa. The group consisted of town leadership, local business owners, and community members. We are supporting their efforts to consider our program to strengthen their community.

Also in attendance were our DOLA Regional Manager and a couple of staff members from Kimley-Horn. Kimley Horn is almost ready to kick off design work on a new stormwater management system.

Lots of positive happenings in Kiowa! We will enjoy our work to support their efforts.

Colorado Main Street is pleased to announce that we are hiring a Main Street Specialist (Community/Economic Development II) to help us with our community outreach, technical assistance, and program management.

We are looking for five years of experience (or a combination of education and experience) in business administration, nonprofit management, geography, urban/regional planning, economic development, public administration, history, architecture/design, organization/leadership, or a closely related field.

Last week, we had the pleasure of being in La Junta, visiting with staff, board members, and business owners, as well as taking a tour of the work on the historic Plaza Building to return it to use and contribute to a vibrant downtown.

We enjoyed our time in Wellington last night for the annual Wellington CO Main Street Program community dinner and awards. It was nice to present to the program's supporters about how we support them at the state level. Dinner was provided by many local restaurants, who donated signature items from their menus. We had time for some great conversations with the attendees, and we cannot say enough about the wonderful leadership and supporters of the program. This week, we had a wonderful visit with the Leadville Main Street board. Then, we presented to many fine partner organizations interested in learning more about our work at the state level. Before returning to the metro, we had the opportunity to walk along Harrison Avenue and take in some exciting details that seem to be everywhere you look. Last week, the Colorado Main Street team had the good fortune to travel in the most opportune windows to visit with local programs, officials, and business owners in Meeker, Rangely, and Rifle. It was a bit of a winter wonderland when we visited with businesses, the Rio Blanco County Historical Society and White River Museum, and the town board in the Town of Meeker; then glorious fall days in the Town of Rangely, Colorado, where we got to visit the Rangely Automotive Museum and Rangely District Hospital, and the Town of Rifle, where we met with Main Street board (Greater Rifle Improvement Team and businesses.

Last week, we had a fabulous time visiting Ridgway (and Ouray) for our annual Main Street Managers Summit. The morning the two-day event started, we were fortunate to be hosted by Jenny, Ouray's local historian, on a walking tour of their downtown. Then, at lunchtime, we returned to Ridgway's Space to Create building, where we were hosted by Arielle and Tera of Ridgway Fuse, a Colorado Creative Main Street Program. Mayor Clark welcomed us, and we set out to learn more about our theme, "Understanding Main Street's Role in Redevelopment."

Mike and Nathan from Ayres Associates provided an analysis of the building and business inventory they had completed over the preceding months for all of our officially designated programs. It was a deep dive to support our Main Street Managers in understanding and modeling local real estate development deals - activating empty buildings and second floors.

At the end of the Summit, the illustrious rubber chicken was passed to Zach Higgins of Elizabeth. Zach, the Town of Elizabeth, and the Elizabeth Main Street program had a stellar year! It was great that they were recognized by their peers as our Community of the Year.

Last week, we were honored to support the City of Ouray's Main Street Board in distributing the first "Year-rounder Awards" to local businesses. Everyone was surprised as we came in chanting a cheer. We also presented a certificate and window cling for being the fabric that keeps the town alive for locals all year. Our hat is off to them, as small businesses are at the heart of Main Street! We enjoyed our trip to Lamar yesterday. While there, we were fortunate to meet with the Main Street board (Lamar Partnership Inc, aka LPI), business owners, and the City Council. There are many great businesses and people in this community, and local organizations are combining efforts to continue the work of Main Street revitalization. Hats off to Lamar!

Today, we had a lovely meeting with the Lyons Main Street board and town officials. We toured the district to discuss opportunities for public improvements and better ways to assist local business owners. Lyons is redefining itself as a place to stay (not just pass through), and some big wins are just around the corner.

Thank you, Brush Area Chamber of Commerce, chamber members, and City of Brush for the warm welcome and fabulous pizza! It is an honor and pleasure to support the great work that you and all of our Main Streets do.

Traci Stoffel with the Colorado Main Street Program spoke at the Brush Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon today at Brush Emporium and Pizzaporium. Brush! has been an accredited part of the Program since 2001, which offers support for community-led downtown revitalization. Much of the progress and successes we've seen downtown over the past two decades has been because of the support and resources the Program has provided.

We visited Montrose DART and had an intimate meeting with the Board at the very comfortable Healthy Rhythm gallery & venue. Then, we spent some quality time with the Main Street Manager, visiting property owners and discussing upcoming plans for the district. A lot of positive momentum is happening, and it feels like everyone is on board.

Everything was lovely in Silverton this week. We spent some time with the San Juan Development Association Board and met with several building/business owners about their buildings. during our tour with the Main Street Manager, it was great to hear about 12 new businesses opening over the past quarter. Colorado Main Street also went Main Street Steamboat Springs last week, and helped to host the Guest Experience booth at their famous and fabulous Farmers Market on Saturday, getting to visit with many residents, volunteers, and visitors - and even a number of City of Steamboat Springs - Government council members.

Last week, Colorado Main Street staff went to the Town of Granby and visited with local Main Street program staff with Destination Granby, went to their Music & Market event to meet their residents, and had a fabulous discussion at an open house to answer questions explain more about Main Street.

Last month, we had the pleasure of visiting Pagosa Springs Main Street. We spoke with representatives from the local museum, met with multiple property owners, and toured the new sculpture garden/performance space. It was wonderful to see the community enjoying the beautiful summer weather.
